Synopsis: |
The Monterey Bay Aquarium's "Whales to Windmills: Inventions Inspired by the Sea" is a 15-minute interactive program lead by a live presenter featuring whimsical CGI and stunning HD imagery. Audiences hear stories about inventors who are studying the adaptations of ocean animals like sharks, whales and boxfish. By borrowing natures design ideas they are inventing new energy efficient products such as trains and cars, or energy generating schemes that don't burn fossil fuels. In the process, audiences learn about the threats to the ocean poised by climate change and ocean acidification through a positive, solutions-oriented approach. This program is expected to reach over 500,000 guests during its 3-year run in the aquarium's 275-seat theatre. |
